OATMEAL FRUIT SMOOTHIE
You can throw just about anything in a fruit smoothie to enhance its flavor such as honey, tofu, jams, any combination of fruits, peanut butter, juices, etc., but keep in mind it will effect the nutritional values.
1 cup soy milk 1/2 cups rolled oats 1 banana, broken into chunks 14 frozen strawberries 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract 1 & 1/2 teaspoons white sugar
In a blender, combine soy milk, oats, banana and strawberries. Add vanilla and sugar if desired.
Blend until smooth.
Pour into glasses and serve.
Oats are a good source of both soluble and insoluble fiber. It has been found that those who eat more oats are less likely to develop heart disease.
Oats are a good source of many nutrients including vitamin E, zinc, selenium, copper, iron, manganese and magnesium. Oats are also a good source of protein.
